Yommi MV & Morning Dew Juices

By Abby Remer

Four young entrepreneurs who use yummy superfoods to make fabulously tasty grab-and-go products have just opened a lovely store in Vineyard Haven. Caroline Harris and Ryan Gussen of Yommi MV and Michaela Brown and Talia Weingarten of Morning Dew Juices have joined forces, setting up shop just off State Road.

Yommi’s mainstay is its creamy, bursting-with-flavor, organic, gluten-free and dairy-free bars. Just a few of their enticing flavors include Mint Chip Magic made with fresh spinach, fresh mint, and cacao; Blueberry Lemon Bliss, created from fresh blueberries, lemon juice, MV Sea Salt, Cardamom, and vanilla; and Golden Goodness crafted with turmeric, cardamom, ginger, and cinnamon. Harris shares, “We love that they are nutritious with whole fruits and vegetables, nuts, and local raw honey.

Morning Dew’s cold-pressed juices are equally as fabulous, with such offerings as Solstice Balm containing watermelon, holy basil, jalapeƱo, lime; Strawberry Moon made with Warner Farm strawberry, Island rhubarb, Champlain Orchard apple, organic lemon; and Golden Hour, which has Kent Farm carrot, garden fennel, Champlain Orchard apple, White Rabbit Farm turmeric, organic ginger, and organic lime. Brown says, “The plants and produce in our juices are farmed and foraged on the island and supplemented with organic produce grown in healthy soil on regenerative northeast farms. This project was born from a desire to provide our community with nutrient-dense offerings grounded in our local food system and to forge deeper connections between people, plants, farmers, and seasons.”

Speaking of how the collaboration occurred, Harris explains, “We were working in a basement with a little less than 200 square feet and no windows. This fell into our laps when we were talking with Chrissy Kinsman of Pie Chicks, who was looking to take a sabbatical. The space was bigger than we needed, and we knew Talia and Michaela and that their product aligns so well with us, with their fresh fruits and vegetables and heavy focus on supporting the local farm community.”

And Brown chimes in, “We’re so grateful and overjoyed to be working with such wonderful collaborators who are  a dream team.”
